ABOUT
Casey Farm is a 300-acre working organic farm located in Saunderstown, Rhode Island, overlooking Narragansett Bay. This historic site, owned by Historic New England, features a c. 1750 farmhouse, barns, high stone walls, and a family cemetery. As one of the original plantation farms from the Colonial era, it represents a significant agricultural and historical landscape.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Families visiting Casey Farm can explore the farmyard and cemetery on guided tours, which highlight the burial site of six generations of the Casey family. The farm also hosts a Saturday morning farmers market from May to October, offering organic produce and products from local vendors. Children's summer day camps for ages 3–13 provide hands-on activities, while school programs in the fall and spring include a popular chick-hatching initiative in partnership with Rhode Island classrooms.
GOOD TO KNOW
Established in the Colonial era, Casey Farm was owned by the Casey family from 1702 to 1955 before being donated to Historic New England. The farm continues to operate as an active organic farm with a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. It serves as both a living agricultural enterprise and a preserved historical site, offering year-round educational programs and seasonal events for visitors.
