ABOUT

It is one of the prominent Newport Mansions managed by the Preservation Society of Newport County, which aims to protect and present the architectural heritage of the region.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Chinese Tea House, built in 1914 for Alva Belmont, is situated on a cliff overlooking the ocean and serves as a venue for women's suffrage rallies, enriching the mansion's historical significance. Seasonal afternoon tea service is available at the tea house, allowing guests to enjoy a unique experience amidst stunning views.

GOOD TO KNOW

Marble House was a 39th birthday gift from William Vanderbilt to Alva in 1892, and she retained ownership after their divorce in 1895. The Preservation Society of Newport County acquired Marble House in 1963, with funding from Harold Stirling Vanderbilt, the couple's youngest son, and has since operated it as a public historic house museum, showcasing its rich history and architectural grandeur.
