The Bay Center is Save The Bay's marine science education facility and administrative headquarters, located on a 6.07-acre waterfront site along Providence's Narragansett Bay. This award-winning building features two classrooms, community meeting rooms, an art gallery, and an adjacent boathouse with a fixed pier and dock. Designed as a green building, it serves as a living classroom for marine science education and community engagement, promoting environmental stewardship.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Families visiting the Bay Center can engage in hands-on learning experiences, such as observing and handling local marine life and testing water quality. Seasonal programs, including the Save The Bay Seal Tour, provide unique opportunities for exploration and connection with the Bay's ecosystem.
GOOD TO KNOW
Save The Bay was founded in 1970 to protect Narragansett Bay from pollution and development threats. The Bay Center was dedicated on June 2, 2005, after the land was donated by Johnson & Wales University. Save The Bay operates year-round, offering various educational initiatives and community events to foster stewardship of the Bay, highlighting the importance of environmental awareness and action.
