ABOUT

It occupies several original waterfront buildings of the manufacturing company, providing visitors with a glimpse into the rich maritime history of Rhode Island.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The museum operates a sailing school for both youth and adults, offering opportunities for children to learn sailing skills.

GOOD TO KNOW

Founded in 1971, the Herreshoff Marine Museum was established to preserve the history of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1878 to 1945. The museum originated from the bequest of a yacht and has since expanded to include the main facility and a significant portion of the historic waterfront.
