Updated
ABOUT
Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum is a historic site located in Warwick, Rhode Island, built between 1871 and 1877 as a wedding gift for Elizabeth Ives Slater Reed. This Gothic Revival structure has remained in the same family for four generations and is operated by volunteers under the auspices of a 501(c)3 charitable organization. The museum showcases high-quality Victorian-era workmanship and features a distinctive Egyptian-themed room.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Families visiting Clouds Hill can explore the Carriage Museum, which houses more than 12 carriages, including a gypsy wagon from the mid-1800s. The museum also offers access to the Arboretum Trail, which is home to more than 70 species of trees and shrubs. Visitors can engage with collections that include textiles and porcelain, with family articles dating back to the 1870s, making it suitable for a wide age range.
GOOD TO KNOW
Clouds Hill opened its doors to the public in 2000, providing a "portal to the past" and an opportunity to experience late nineteenth-century life. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Cedar Hill - Mrs. Reed Estate." The museum's mission is to preserve its buildings and collections while educating future generations about Rhode Island history and the Victorian era.
