ABOUT

The Middletown Historical Society is a non-profit educational organization located at Paradise School in Paradise Valley Park, Middletown, Rhode Island. Founded in 1976, it operates as an all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history of Middletown. The Society is overseen by a 10-member Board of Directors and manages various preserved historic locations, each serving as a unique museum that showcases the town's rich heritage and promotes community engagement.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Society hosts events such as the annual celebration of Boyd's Mill, where all eight vanes of the historic windmill turn, accompanied by arts and crafts vendors and family entertainment.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Society's mission includes safeguarding Middletown's rapidly disappearing heritage and promoting education about its history. Established to ensure a record of the past, it actively engages the community in historical preservation efforts. The Society's office and museum are open during the summer months, and it relies on memberships to support its activities and the upkeep of historical entities, ensuring ongoing opportunities for public involvement and education.
