ABOUT

The Beavertail Lighthouse Museum is a small maritime museum located in the assistant keeper's house at Beavertail Lighthouse, on the southern tip of Conanicut Island in Jamestown, Rhode Island. This site is notable for being the third-oldest lighthouse location in North America, with the current granite tower built in 1856. The museum is operated by the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association, established in 1993 to preserve the lighthouse's history and oversee its operations.

GOOD TO KNOW

The Beavertail Lighthouse was originally established with a wooden tower in 1749, which was replaced by the current granite structure in 1856. The lighthouse remains an active navigational aid, managed by the U.S. Coast Guard since its automation in 1989.
